OUR NETWORK & HARDWARE:

Admins are on call at all hours of the day or night. Our team is  focused on keeping your system up and running.  To prevent failure and to mitigate hardware issues we only use Dell Servers, which have the highest quality in the industry.

Servers (may vary slightly)
Processors: 2 x XEON -or- 2 x Quad Core
Hard Drives: 2 x 500GB 7.2K RPM SATA PowerEdge SC (RAID1/Mirrored)
Mother Board: Dell PowerEdge
Memory: 8GB (scalable to 16GB)

Network
To ensure our world class network, we utilizes Cisco and Juniper Networks hardware for robustness and reliability. Routing is handled with redundant hardware to protect against unforeseen problems.

Backbone connections are brought in to the facility over multiple fiber connections via sonet rings. Load balancing as well as fail-over redundancy across these connections is carried out with BGP v4. We also maintain strategic peering agreements with other large networks at multiple locations such as PAIX (Palo Alto Internet eXchange) and CommIX (formerly Utah Rep). These peering agreements benefit all our customers by allowing their data to take a more direct route to its destination rather than meandering around the Internet before reaching its target.

We also offer the flexibility of "carrier neutral" fiber. This solution offers our clients the security and redundancy of a world-class datacenter with the ability to use their own data network for transport.
- Server Connection 100 Base-T to our network backbone.
- Backbone Carrier neutral, multiple DS3 network for redundancy and strategic peering.
- Network Hardware Telco-level Cisco hardware used throughout network infrastructure for reliability.

Internet Connectivity
- Level3: Internet Backbone connection. (155Mb OC3)
- AT&T: Internet Backbone connection. (155Mb OC3)
- XO: Internet Backbone connection. (1000Mb GE)
- nLayer: Internet Backbone connection. (1000Mb GE)
- PAIX: Peering fabric in Palo Alto, CA. (100Mb FE)

Power
In our facility we use a large, turbo diesel generator in combination with a next-generation UPS and automatic transfer switch system to provide steady, clean, hospital grade, uninterruptible electricity to our customers' servers. The generator is tested weekly and multiple fuel delivery contracts are in place to replenish fuel as needed for days or even weeks, if there is a long power outage. Our data center can handle very dense concentrations of power. Most data centers are designed to supply 30 to 50 watts per square foot. Our Data Center is designed to supply 150 watts per square foot with an infrastructure built to handle up to 1.5 megawatts of total power consumption for the facility.

Environment
Your server might not tell you if it's too hot, but it may not be as reliable if it doesn't get proper cooling. Computers function best at mild temperatures and in a low-static atmosphere. The Data Center is kept at 70 degrees F year round. The colocation area employs an anti-static raised floor throughout to ensure that there aren't any errant electrical discharges around your computers. The humidity is also kept at optimum levels to reduce static build up in the air. This keeps servers happier and functioning well.
- Temperature: Server room maintained at 70 degrees or cooler.
- Humidity: Air is humidified to reduce static electricity.

Physical & Network Security
Security is a top concern. Your server is housed in a facility where only current colocation customers and staff are allowed. All building access is logged and staff are onsite around the clock, monitoring through a network of cameras and other sensors. Routine security walkthroughs are performed.

The connection to your server is also watched over. Should a sudden spike in activity occur, our technical staff is notified by automated monitoring software to check into the traffic just in case the server is fending off a malicious internet attack. Should the traffic appear suspicious, our technical team addresses the issue immediately.
- Access 24 hour, biometric building access.
- Monitoring On-site security personnel and video monitoring of facility 24/7. Network monitoring with admin paging.

Proven Guarantee:
A number of years ago a tornado tore through downtown Salt Lake City, an extremely rare event in this region. It took down power and caused a fair amount of chaos for at least one day. A Unix programmer contacted us later that week to tell us how impressed he was with our network. It seems he lives on the East Coast and was trying to get through to the Bay Area. The only active route he could find was through our network as every other route he tried had been knocked out by the tornado. We're very proud that our customers and their servers don't suffer from events such as these because they're safely sequestered and connected just like every other day.
